Beauticians in Waling engaging in social works

By Radhakrishna Dumre,Syangja, Dec. 23: The beauticians in Waling of Syangja district have actively been engaging in social work alongside their business activities. 

They organise ‘Deusi-Bhailo’ programme during the Tihar festival every year and use the funds collected from the cultural programme to support various social causes.

 During the Tihar festival this yera, they successfully raised Rs. 100,000 and used it for charitable initiatives.

Pushpa Aryal, the President of the Beauty Parlor Association in Syangja, said that the primary objective of playing ‘Deusi-Bhailo’ was to contribute to the preservation of religion, culture and tradition. 

The collected funds are directed towards impactful social work, demonstrating the beauticians’ commitment to both their craft and community, she added.

Aryal highlighted that the beauticians of Waling are dedicated to conveying the message that their involvement extends beyond the realm of beauty services to active participation in social welfare.

Beautician Pamila Gurung said that there are more than 50 beauticians in Waling itself, and they intend to connect all of them with business and social work.

President Aryal said that they provided Rs. 15,000 each for the treatment of Chandra Bahadur Gurung and Shanta BK. 

Chandra Bahadur Gurung, who lives in Waling-9, was injured in an accident, and Shanta BK of Waling-13 is suffering from cancer. Gurung worked as a wage earner and is currently undergoing treatment in Pokhara.

President Aryal expressed the association’s commitment to assisting others facing difficulties and outlined plans to allocate the remaining funds to install an iron chair for tourists at Bahunthan, a popular tourist spot in Waling- 11.

Durga Thapa, the founding district president of the association, noted that in the previous year, Waling’s beauticians played ‘Deusi-Bhailo’ and contributed materials worth Rs. 80,000 to the Ashram in Keladighat.
