By Bishnu Prasad Pokharel, Damak, Dec. 12: A group of people pelted stones at Koshi Province Chief Minister Kedar Karki's vehicle in Damak, Jhapa.
The group of people calling themselves ‘pro-identity politics' showed a black flag and threw stones at the CM's car on Tuesday afternoon. He was attacked on the way to Damak for the inauguration of the campaign related to narcotics, which is being led by the Damak Municipality.
The CM’s car was moving in between two police vans, and the attackers also punched the car when it was slowing its speed on a turning towards the designated location.
The group was at Damak Chowk carrying black flags since Tuesday morning.
According to the Police, the car incurred some damage from the attack, but the Chief Minister along with other passengers came unscathed.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Durga Raj Regmi, Chief of the District Police Office, Jhapa, said that the search operation and identification of the attackers is underway.
He said that even though there was heavy mobilization of the security personnel, some people in mass emerged suddenly and pelted CM’s car.
