Nov. 30: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has emphasized the need to restore direct flights between Russia and Nepal.
In an
interview with the Russian news agency, TASS, published today, PM Prachanda also
said that Nepal was interested in Nepal-Russia cooperation in large-scale
development projects, particularly hydro projects, and the education sector.
Characterizing
Nepal-Russia relations as that of mutual understanding and good partnership at
different levels as evidenced by Russia's 'great assistance in creating
infrastructure and modernizing agriculture and in other areas, both during the
Soviet period and later,' PM Prachanda viewed that 'there are no problems
between our countries'.
"But we
are very concerned about the not yet fully realized potential of economic
partnership and transport connectivity. This really worries us," PM
Prachanda said, pointing out the need for greater 'economic cooperation,
interaction in education, agriculture, and infrastructure projects'.
Referring to
his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin during the BRICS Summit in
Goa, India in 2016, PM Prachanda said he would be delighted to welcome
Russian President Putin in Nepal.
