By A Staff Reporter Kathmandu, Nov. 27: The express bus service, which was suspended for more than a month since the beginning of the Dashain festival along the Suryabinayak-Ratna Park route, has been resumed since Sunday.

The service was initiated on the occasion of Constitution Day, September 20 this year to attract people to public transport during peak hours (9 am to 11 am and 4 pm to 6 pm).

However, starting with 25 buses, the express bus service, which was inaugurated by Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala, came to a halt after the Dashain festival commenced.

According to the stakeholders, the service has been resumed by adding 11 more buses and changing the schedule.

“The express buses will now operate from 8:30 am to 10:30 am in the morning and 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm in the evening,” informed the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport.

Likewise, one bus will leave every three minutes during the two-hour period in the morning and evening from the two destinations. The buses operating under the service have been said to transport passengers from one destination to the other (Ratna Park-Suryabinayak) in 45 minutes. Normally, it takes around an hour and thirty minutes for other public vehicles to cover the distance.

The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office informed that the officers would try keeping other vehicles out of the lane marked in red along the route. Traffic Police have also requested the public not to drive their vehicles in the red-coloured lane allotted for the express buses during the designated time.
