PM's office shifted to retrofitted Singha Durbar

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, Nov. 23: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has been shifted to renovated building situated on the western side of Singha Durbar. 

After the devastating earthquake of 2015 ravaged the building, it was reconstructed. 

Responding to the media after shifting to his new office, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda expressed optimism, hoping that this new beginning would gather fresh momentum.

Prime Minister Prachanda said the original structure of the 120-year-old building has been preserved and the restoration of the damaged building through retrofitting has been successfully completed.

He further said that there was a need to advance with revived enthusiasm and confidence. Not only the Office of the Prime Minister's and Council of Ministers has been shifted but has also been decided to transform the nature and quality of work in a fresh, innovative manner, he added. 

He shared his experience of previously working in the old office, describing the feeling of suffocation. 

The Prime Minister further said that the move to the new location has rejuvenated him and created a conducive environment for work.

He further expressed his belief that the inauguration of the new building would bring about a fresh momentum, strengthening unity. 

Speaking at the same occasion, Minister for Urban Development Sita Gurung mentioned that the retrofitting process of the new office building of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers is nearly finished.

 Minister Gurung said that the retrofitting work has been completed with an approximate expenditure of Rs. 420 million, as per the terms of the initial phase contract.
