Employees, teachers of Aathbiskot Municipality to provide a month’s salary to quake victims

By Our Correspondent,Rukum West, Nov. 6: People’s representatives, teachers and employees working at Aathbiskot Municipality in Rukum West district have decided to provide a month’s salary to the earthquake victims. 

Rabi KC, Mayor of Aathbiskot Municipality, said that around 500 people’s representatives, teachers and employees decided to donate the salary and allowance of one month to the Disaster Management Fund of the municipality. 

The municipality also provided a holiday on Sunday to mourn the massive loss of human life and property from the earthquake of Friday night in the municipality. 

A meeting of the municipality also took a  decision to fly the national flag at half-mast at the municipality and other offices and provide Rs. 250,000 cremation expenses to the family of each deceased.  

The municipality also formed an 11-member committee under Deputy Mayor Dhan Kumari Shahi to collect the data on damages caused by the quake. 

It also urged several donor agencies and organisations to support the earthquake victims. 

Hundreds of houses were completely damaged while others developed cracks and became unsuitable to live in in the municipality. 

Meanwhile, the municipality has started distributing relief materials to the earthquake victims since Sunday.   The distribution process of relief material has begun from Ward No. 14 of the municipality. The ward has recorded the highest number of deaths from the quake.
