Madhesh holds same linguistic, cultural diversity as whole country: President Paudel

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Oct. 13: President Ramchandra Paudel said that Madhesh also has linguistic and cultural diversity like that of the whole country.

Receiving the annual report of the Madheshi Commission on Friday, President Paudel said that the Madhesh community has been inhabiting Nepal for a long period of time. 

He clarified that Madhesh has a diversity of language, culture, costumes, tradition, and civilization like that of the whole country. 

President Paudel said, “Nepal is a multi-lingual, multi-cultural country, and so is Madhesh Province. Culture is an important means of identity and maintaining communal feeling.”

He said that the government has made social and cultural policies in such a way that the diverse cultures and communities are living in co-existence and each varied existence is promoted and preserved.

Submitting a report Dr Bijay Kumar Datta, Chairperson of the Madheshi Commission said that the commission has decided on the definition of Madhesh and Madheshi and also has listed the caste and surname of the Madhesi community.
