Rautes ask for Dashain expenses

By Our Correspondent,Ghorahi, Sept. 23:The representatives of Raute community have met Dilli Bahadur Chaudhari, the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province and sought funds to celebrate Dashain.  

Birkha Bahadur Shahi, the Chief and the representative of the Raute community, had come all the way from Dailekh to the Chief Minister’s Office to ask for Dashain expenses. He said, “Dashain has almost arrived; our people need to offer animal sacrifice and consume goat’s meat.”  He said they were seeking Rs. 200,000 from Lumbini government. 

The Chief Minister said, “We don’t have funds, the government needs to earmark the funds so that we can grant you Dashain expenses.”

There are 86 households of the Raute community in Dailekh according to Shahi, the chief of the clan. He informed that they were visiting provincial and local government seeking Dashain expenses. 

“Earlier, we used to make and sell wooden utensils and manage our expenses, but cutting trees is prohibited now so we don’t have money and we are asking for help,” said Sahi. 

 Chief Minister Chaudhari said that he was positive to help Raute community and manage funds for their Dashain expenses.

 Chief Minister Chaudhari said, “The government has been granting funds to the Raute community for Dashain expenses. If they are facing difficulties in celebrating Dashain due to monetary problems, the Lumbini Province government will certainly help them.”

Dhan Bahadur Maski, the Finance Minister, and Radhika Aryal, the Chief Secretary of the Lumbini Province Government, were also present at the meeting.
