Ha Ram Pundit staging at Shilpee Theatre

blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Sept. 9: A play ‘Ha Ram Pundit’ written and directed by Barat Limboo, is going to be staged at Shilpee Theatre from September 13.

Presented by Dailo Productions in collaboration with Bhairav Puraskar Guthi, the play will be staged till October 7.

Featuring an ensemble cast including Shrawan Rana Magar, Bikash Joshi, Sabeer Churaute, Sabin Katel and many others, the drama is bringing the spirit of Bhairav Aryal after 47 years on the stage.

Director Limboo revealed that the play was the outcome because of inspiration from the prose collections ‘Kaukuti’, ‘Jai Bhudi’ and ‘Itishree’ of Bhairav Aryal, who is known as the

maestro of humor.

The narrative of the drama rolls around a belief rooted in Hinduism upon one's death that their afterlife in heaven or hell is determined by their earthly actions.

Director Limboo further added that the play delves into the intriguing concept of how a person's deeds and beliefs are assessed posthumously.

Drawing parallels with common people's struggles with bureaucratic hurdles in Nepali society, the narrative highlights the challenges faced even in celestial offices like that of Chitragupta.

In Nepali society, a common citizen often encounters significant challenges with government office procedures, even for minor matters. Work often remains stalled unless bribes are paid, and the drama highlights this deep-rooted corruption.

In a twist of irony, the play portrays how the protagonist faces similar issues in the afterlife. Due to a religious error in Chitragupta's office, he finds himself returning to the earthly realm, informed Limboo.
