Dang, Sept 3: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha
Sharma has viewed that the main achievement of the current government is to revitalize
people's confidence in the present federal democratic republican system.
Addressing a cadres' orientation programme organized
by CPN (Maoist Center) Gorahi sub-metropolitan city committee, Minister Sharma said
the government's work to consolidate public trust in present polity is the most
important achievement given the malicious efforts to spread extreme despair
against the system.
"Despair was getting root as the wrong
narrative that the powerful can do anything wrong was being established, but the
government's historical initiative for good governance has dismissed the
narrative and raised people's trust in the system," she said.
She argued that it was probably the first time that
the government was connected with the people.
"The investigation into fake Bhutanese refugee scam, loan sharks, and booking the culprits are some of the steps initiated for good governance, and to dismiss the narrative that the powerful can do anything wrong," she said.
"No Prime Minister in history has asked the
investigating agencies not to spare himself if found guilty, but present PM has said
so. He has even warned his own party leaders to be ready to face justice if
found guilty in wrong doing. This is nothing normal," said Minister
Sharma, also the government spokesperson.
Admitting that some leaders and cadres of the CPN (Maoist
Center) as that of the other parties had also taken a wrong path, Minister
Sharma clarified that it was wrong to conclude that the Maoist party as a whole and its
movement had been rotten.
Minister Sharma, also a standing committee member of
the Maoist Center, expressed confidence that the party's 3-month long campaign
will improve the party in areas where it had gone wrong.
