By Chandra Pandak,Taplejung, Aug. 28: The Tiptala border point at Olangchungola in Phaktanglung Rural Municipality-7 of Taplejung district will be opened on September 10.
The Nepal-China border, which was closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be opened after about four years.
According to Rajan Limbu (Mukti), Chairman of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality, the Tiptala Bhanjyang border point will be opened on September 10.
Chairman Limbu said that he had a virtual meeting with the head of the administration of Dinggye County of Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China, and discussed the issue of opening the border.
He said the Rural Municipality Office had been asking the Dinggye County administration to open the Tiptala border and this time they have reached a mutual agreement on opening it from September 10.
District Administration Office of Taplejung has also played an important role in opening the border.
After the opening of the Tiptala border located at an altitude of 5,100 metres, the life of locals of Phaktanglung Rural Municipality will be more convenient.
Chairman Limbu said that opening of the checkpoint would be a big relief to the residents of Phale of Lelep and Ghunsa of Ward Number 6 and Olangchungola, and Yangma of Ward Number 7.
Through this border, daily necessities and other goods are imported from Riu, and goods like carpets, yak, and herbs are exported to TAR.
