A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, August 25: Dr. Rabindra Dhakal, a prominent figure
in the field of science and technology, has been appointed as the Secretary of
the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).
The
appointment was made by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', also the
Chancellor of NAST, conferring upon Dhakal a tenure of four years, effective
from Friday.
Scientist
Dhakal is known for his wide-ranging contributions in space research, ICT development
programmes, bio-energy programme and national innovation digital networks
programme based on NAST.
Dr.
Dhakal has served as the Chief Scientist Officer and Technical Department head
at NAST, where he has also assumed the role of spokesperson. Dhakal completed PhD in Chemical Engineering
from Saga University, Japan.
After
assuming the office, Dhakal stated that his vision for his tenure is to bolster
the connection between science, industry, and society.
Dr.
Dhakal expressed his commitment to nurturing a sense of hope and enthusiasm
among the youths for science and innovation. He intends to create avenues for
young minds to engage with scientific pursuits, fostering a new generation of
innovators and problem solvers.

Dr. Dhakal's agenda places a strong emphasis on institutional strengthening
within the realm of science and technology.
