By Our Correspondent,Waling, Aug. 16: Chhurpi produced by Akala Namuna Small Farmers’ Agricultural Cooperatives in Waling of Syangja is being exported to America. The cooperative has also been producing various types of dairy products by collecting milk from farmers.
Laxmi Pokhrel Regmi, manager of the cooperative, informed that the cooperative is purchasing the milk from farmers and producing items such as chhurpi, paneer, curd, butter, ghee and ice cream from it.
According to her, the cooperative has been making dairy products and selling them in the local market.
According to the cooperative, produced goods that are not consumed only in the local market will be supplied to Kathmandu for sale.
She said that chhurpi produced by the cooperative is being exported to America via Kathmandu.
Along with Syangja, farmers have brought milk from the southern part of Parbat to the milk collection centre established by the cooperative.
According to the cooperative, around 800 to 1,100 litres of milk is collected daily.
The cooperative produces 25 to 30 kilos of chhurpi daily and it is sold for Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,100 per kilogram.
Chairman of the Cooperative Punya Prasad Aryal said that there is no problem for the sale of the produced goods.
Aryal said that the cooperative has been giving subsidies to farmers at a rate of Rs. 2.5 per litre of milk. Besides, it has been distributing agricultural materials to farmers with 50 per cent subsidy, and various types of seedlings and grass seedlings have been distributed.
The cooperative has been providing Boer goats to goat farmers. Similarly, it has been providing subsidies at the rate of 25 per kg for farmers who grow ginger above 150 kg.
In collaboration with the Prime Minister Agricultural Modernization Project, 50 per cent subsidy was given to 10 farmers under the buffalo subsidy programme and 50 per cent subsidy to 28 farmers under the shed improvement programme has been distributed, said Sharma.
There are 2,850 members in the cooperative established in 2075 B.S.
The cooperative has also been providing loans to farmers at 9 per cent interest rate.
Manager Pokhrel informed that the cooperative has also decided to conduct a free animal insurance programme under the Livestock Wealth Protection Programme in the current fiscal year.
According to the cooperative, it is giving subsidies to farmers with the aim of attracting farmers towards commercial agriculture and creating jobs.
