By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Aug. 16: Lumbini Chief Minister and leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary has called upon the party's leaders and members to rise above factionalism and actively contribute to enhance the party's unity.
Addressing a gathering of party leaders and cadres in Nepalgunj on Tuesday, Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhary said leaving behind factional divisions is essential for both the comprehensive progress of the province as well as the reinforcement of the party.
He said, "Nepali Congress is a responsible party, consistently guiding the nation towards development and prosperity.
Leaders and members of this historic party are not allowed to waste time by involving themselves in factionalism."
Stating that the provincial government has prioritised the development of major historical cities within the province, the CM said a significant focus has been directed towards fostering the growth and prosperity of Nepalgunj.
"The government has taken steps to fulfill this objective, including the establishment of Lumbini University," he said adding, "A range of initiatives has been introduced to facilitate the growth of tourism, as well as to promote industrial and commercial development in the region."
Reminding that he is both a resident of Nepalgunj and a NC member native to Banke, CM Chaudhary affirmed, "I will not neglect or disregard my own roots.
It is imperative for the district committee of the party to come together and collaborate.
All essential development plans will be provided."
Stating that Bageshwori temple of Nepalgunj has a great potential for religious tourism, he said a budget has been set aside for the beautification and restoration of the temple.
Speaking at the gathering, Narayan Gaudel, NC district president, appealed to the CM for assistance in several key projects, including construction of an embankment along the Rapti River, flooding and inundation prone area, establishing additional branch of Land Reform and Land Revenue Office in Kohalpur, and the completion of the Sushil Koirala Smriti Bhawan, currently under construction at the party office.
Former minister and NC leader Gajendra Bahadur Hamal, members of Provincial Assembly Maya Pun, Sanju Kumari Chaudhary, former Constituent Assembly member Abdul Hameed Siddiqui 'Bhola' and party leaders and cadres were present at the gathering.
