By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 11: The team ‘Bagan’ has toured Chitwan, Butwal and Pokhara for the promotion of the film.
The film is scheduled for a nationwide release on July 14.
The team, consisting of actor and director Saroj Khanal, actress Karishma Manandhar, debut actor Pramila Karki, and producer and lyricist Suresh Wagle toured various major cities outside the Kathmandu Valley to promote their social drama ‘Bagan.’ In a press conference held outside the valley, the team discussed the themes of ‘Bagan.’
Director Khanal stated that the movie portrays the sorrows, problems, faced by women in every household and their solutions.
Actress Karishma Manandhar expressed her belief that ‘Bagan’ would revolutionise the Nepali film industry. New actress Pramila Karki mentioned how working with Khanal and Manandhar provided her with invaluable learning opportunities, calling ‘Bagan’ a university for her.
After the press conference in Chitwan, the film unit met with Renu Dahal, the Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, who expressed her interest in watching the movie.
In Butwal, Khanal reminisced about promoting the movie ‘Sarangi’ in the same city 30 years ago.
Producer Suresh Wagle visited various locations during the promotional tour to directly interact with the audience and media representatives outside Kathmandu.
The team also announced that single mothers could watch the film for free by presenting their government-issued identity cards at the cinema hall.
‘Bagan’ features Saroj Khanal, Karisma Manandhar, Akash Shrestha, Pramila Karki, Nir Shah, Bashundhara Bhushal and Mithila Sharma.
The film marks Khanal’s directorial debut and Karki’s acting debut.
It is produced by Suresh Wagle under the banner of nepaliwebsite.com while Binod Manandhar is its executive producer.
The movie has Gaurishankar Dhuju as the Director of Photography (DOP), with cinematography by Narayan GC and Utsab Dahal. Sandesh Shah has edited the film.
The production team plans to screen the movie in various countries where Nepalis reside, including America.
