blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 8: A painting book ‘Ramesh Vikal’s (Ravi Chalise) Hidden Talent’ was launched in Kathmandu on Thursday.

The book launch event was graced by senior artist Hari Prasad Sharma as the chief guest, along with Rochak Ghimire, president of the Ramesh Vikal Literary Foundation.

During the launch, Sharma expressed his surprise at discovering that Ramesh Vikal possessed not only writing skills but also remarkable artistic talent.

He mentioned their long-standing acquaintance, noting that while he knew Vikal was a talented writer and dabbled in painting, it was only through reading the book that he knew the extent of Vikal’s artistic abilities.

Professor Dr. Abhi Subedi admitted his initial scepticism about the book showcasing Ramesh Vikal's drawings. He said Vikal was realistic in painting as in his literary works.

Deepak Prasad Risal, the Mayor of Gokarneshwor Municipality, shared his personal experiences of living near Vikal, mentioning how he often observed him engrossed in painting.

Risal also highlighted Vikal's proficiency in creating music, recalling the melodic sounds of the harmonium during the day and the soothing tunes of the flute in the evenings. The book, authored by Yama Prasad Sharma, was edited by KK Karmacharya, former Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine.
