Up to three persons allowed to see off, receive passengers at TIA

blog

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, June 28: From now on, only three people will be allowed in the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to see off a departing passenger.

Issuing a public notice on Tuesday, the Civil Aviation Office at TIA announced that a maximum of three persons would be allowed in the airport to bid farewell to a person leaving the country.

The same rule applies to those coming to pick up a passenger from abroad.

The notice, signed by Teknath Sitaula, director of the Airport Operation Department, states that this decision to limit the number of people was made by TIA's Security Committee to reduce crowds on the airport premises.

"Considering the increasing number of domestic and international flights operating from the airport and the limited space available outside the domestic and international terminals, it has become pertinent to control the crowds," the statement reads. "In busy times, the large number of people gathered here creates challenges for traffic management, accident risk at the passenger drop area, disturbs people trying to enter or leave the airport and hampers service delivery."

"That is why we request everyone to cooperate and adhere to this rule," the Airport has appealed.
