By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, July 15: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the health insurance scheme will be reviewed.
Speaking at an event held on Monday to mark the 43rd anniversary of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Prime Minister Oli said that irregularities have been uncovered in the name of health insurance.
He announced that the health insurance programme would undergo a thorough review with proper justification.
He also urged the hospital to achieve further success in the ‘Healthy Nepal Campaign’ and in ensuring proper treatment for patients.
Prime Minister Oli emphasised that the hospital, which has achieved excellence in serving the Nepali people, should continue to succeed in producing skilled human resources, providing treatment, and enhancing healthcare services.
Recalling that he underwent his second kidney transplant at the Teaching Hospital, Prime Minister Oli remarked that treatment should be done within Nepal itself whenever possible.
“When people fall ill, they place their trust and hope in doctors, nurses, and hospitals. After reaching the hospital, patients hope to survive. Keeping that trust intact is your responsibility,” said Prime Minister Oli.
“Nurses have magic in their hands. It is not just medicine, but also the soft-spoken nature and good behaviour of nurses that help the patients to heal. Based on the doctors’ prescription, nurses are responsible for giving the right medicine in the right dose at the right time and for taking care of the patients,” he added.
On the same occasion, Prime Minister Oli also inaugurated the extended service building of the hospital. The building was constructed with the support of Bhatbhateni Super Market.
During the event, he said that the government has been working under the slogan “Healthy Nepal” and emphasised the importance of maintaining diet, routine, and rest to avoid illness.
He also stressed the need to provide quality and accessible healthcare services when people fall ill.
He praised Bhatbhateni’s proprietors, Min Bahadur Gurung and Sabitri Gurung, for earning through hard work and generously contributing to social causes.
Addressing the event, Gurung said that the building was constructed for Rs. 91 million and has been officially handed over to the hospital.
He further expressed his commitment, emphasizing that Bhatbhateni is ready to support the government in achieving its goal of a “Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.”
