Kaski, June 18 : Minister for Youth and Sports Dig Bahadur Limbu has said public-private partnership model would be adopted to develop sports in Nepal.

The government has planned to move ahead to develop sports forging collaboration with private sector.

The collaboration with private sector would be helpful to construct sports infrastructure and sports competition. Minister Limbu said at a progress meet organized at Sports Journalists' Forum Gandaki in Pokhara on Sunday.

He shared that even the private sector had contributed a lot to promotion of sports. "Government alone cannot do everything for sports. If the campaign of sports advancement misses private sector, it would not be sustainable," Minister Limbu observed.

Limbu further shared that preparations had begun to participate in the 19th Asian Games being held in China coming December. The selection and orientation of players would be made transparent, Limbu argued.

The Ministry wants National Sports Council that it monitored selection process and facilities to players. He admitted that there were no sports infrastructures in line with federalism in the country, thereby slowing sports promotion and development. (RSS)
