World Peace Forum (LWPF) observed World Environment Day 2023 with a remarkable
tree plantation event.
In a concerted
effort to combat deforestation and promote greenery, the LWPF successfully
planted 200 saplings of Hog Plums in Chandragiri Municipality and an additional
300 saplings of guava, gooseberry, lemon, and pomelo in Tokha Municipality,
according to the press release issued by Basu Gautam, President and
Founder of the LWPF.
The
tree plantation event in Chandragiri Municipality was graced by the esteemed
presence of Mayor Ghanshyam Giri, who wholeheartedly endorsed and participated
in the initiative. Concurrently, the plantation drive in Tokha Municipality was
initiated under the visionary leadership of Mayor Prakash Adhikari,
demonstrating his strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
The
event in Chandragiri was organized in collaboration with the Nepal Army, while the
forum forged partnerships with key stakeholders including Agricultural
Development Bank, Muktinath Krishi Company Limited, and The British College.
Their unwavering support and collective effort ensured the successful execution
of the tree plantation drive. Likewise, the plantation drive in Tokha was made
possible through a fruitful partnership with Jyoti Bikash Bank, underscoring
the significance of public-private collaboration for effective environmental
conservation.
Lumbini
World Peace Forum has been at the forefront of the "1 Million Trees
Plantation Drive" since its launch in 2019. The organization has continued
its relentless efforts in planting and conserving trees nationwide,
contributing to a greener and more sustainable future. This year, the forum
plans to plant 30,000 trees in Rupandehi, Banke, Pyuthan, Dang, Salyan, Palpa,
Gulmi, and Arghakhachi. These tree plantation activities are being carried out
in close collaboration with local governments and various corporate social
responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
