Church Boys miss top position

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May 14: Church Boys missed the chance to lead the table by a clear three-point after it suffered a defeat to Tribhuvan Army Club by 1-0 in the match held at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu on Saturday.

After the 1-0 defeat, Church Boys are in the second place with 30 points from 17 matches while Jawalakhel Youth Club are leading the table with equal 30 points from 17 matches. Similarly, Tribhuvan Army Club moved to the fifth place with 24 points from 17 matches.

Gillespye Karki scored the match winning goal for the Army men in the 43rd minute after unmarked striker Karki connected the cross off defender Jitendra Karki through a header. Army men had remained unbeaten against Church Boys in the ongoing league, they thrashed Church Boys United by 1-0 in the first leg of the league.

Machhindra back on title race

Machhindra Football Club are back on the title race as they climbed to the third position after beating Three Star Club by 1-0 in another match held at Chyasal 

Stadium, Lalitpur.

With a victory over Three Star Club, defending champion Machhindra climbed to the third place with 27 points from 17 matches while Three Star Club remained at the fourth place with 25 points from 17 matches.

Yuta Suzuki scored the match winning goal for Machhindra in the 10th minute. Suzuki scored a goal in the rebound of Three Star Club’s goalie Purna Chemjong after Olawale Afeez strike was denied by 

goalie Chemjong.

They had played a draw in the first leg of the league.

Satdobato moves fourth place

Satdobato Youth Club moved to the fourth place by thrashing Armed Police Force (APF) by 3-0 in another game held at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu.

After registering a comfortable victory against the APF, Satdobato moved to fourth place with 26 points from 17 matches while APF remained at the seventh place with 22 points from 17 matches.

Deepak Raj Singh Thakuri netted a brace while William Opoku Asiedu scored one goal for Satdobato’s comfortable victory.

Asiedu opened the account for Satdobato in the 13th minute scoring a brilliant volley goal in the Dipak Raj Sigh 

Gurung’s assist.

Thakuri doubled the tally for Satdobato in the 36th minute. Thakuri scored a remarkable goal after his powerful strike from outside the box kissed the net hitting the first pole of APF’s in William’s assist.

Thakuri sealed the match for the winning side in the 78th minute beating three defenders of APF inside the box and scored 

a stunning goal.

Deepak Raj Singh Thakuri of Satdobato Youth Club was declared the Man of the Match for his remarkable performance against APF.
