By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 12: In a first-of-its-kind event, the Phaplu Mountain Bike Club organized the Enduro Ratnange Mountain Race competition in Solukhumbu on May 7. The event, aimed at promoting mountain races and tourism in high-altitude regions, saw the participation of 26 riders from four categories, including two foreign participants.
Rajesh Magar and Nishma Shrestha emerged as the champions of the competition, showcasing exceptional performances in their respective categories. Magar won the men's category, while Shrestha won the women's category. Other notable winners include Dinesh Maharjan, Manoj Shrestha, and Vinesh Tuladhar in the master's category, and Chhiring Pasang Sherpa and Durvesh Vikram Shah in the junior category.
The winners were awarded cash prizes, with Magar receiving Rs 30,000 for his victory in the men's category, while Shrestha received the same amount for her win in the women's category. The runners-up and third-placed contestants also received cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000, respectively. Additionally, the two participants in the junior category received gift hampers from Columbia and one of the official sponsors of the first-ever Enduro Ratnange, KTM CTY.
The successful conclusion of the Enduro Ratnange Mountain Race competition highlights the growing popularity of mountain biking in Nepal and the concerted efforts of organizations like the Phaplu Mountain Bike Club to promote adventure sports and tourism in the country.
