President returns home after treatment in India

By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May 1:  President Ram Chandra Paudel has returned home from India after receiving treatment. Spokesperson for the President’s Office, Sagar Acharya,  in a statement, said that the President arrived in Kathmandu on a flight of the Nepal Airlines on Sunday.

The President returned home after he was discharged from India's New Delhi-based All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he was undergoing medical treatment. He was discharged after his health situation improved significantly.

He was admitted to  AIIMS on April 19. Acharya informed that doctors have suggested President Paudel take rest for a few weeks.

President Paudel thanked Nepali and Indian doctors and health workers, government employees and security personnel involved in his heath treatment and all sisters and brothers residing in the country and abroad and the Indian government for their cooperation, read the statement.

Meanwhile, Nepali Congress leader and member of the House of Representatives Dr. Chandrakant Bhandari also returned home on Sunday after receiving treatment in Mumbai, India.

He was seriously injured in a fire incident caused by a gas leakage at his residence in Buddhanagar on February 15.

NC leader Madhav Neupane informed that Dr. Bhandari, who received treatment at the National Burns Centre in Mumbai, India, returned home  on a flight of Nepal Airlines.

His health has, of late, improved and has started talking and walking, Neupane added. 

After returning home, he will have to stay at home and do physiotherapy and go to the hospital to dress the wound. 

Dr. Bhandari and his mother Harikala Bhandari were seriously injured in the fire. Harikala died on 

February 16 at the Kirtipur-based Burn Hospital while Dr. Bhandari was taken to India for further treatment on the same day.
