21: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has assured the business
community of not making any laws that affects or seeks to limit private sector
or commerce and industrial sector.
Prime Minister Prachanda said
so at a meeting with the newly elected office bearers of the Federation of
Nepal Chambers of Commerce Industry (FNCCI) at Baluwatar today.
On the occasion, the PM also
congratulated the newly elected officer bears of the FNCCI.
During the meeting, FNCCI Chair
Chandra Dhakal has drawn attention of the Prime Minister to the issue that a
Bill was being proceeded with a view to covering the private sector in the
jurisdiction of the Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority
(CIAA).
Chair Dhakal also pointed at
the need to include private sector in the portfolio, simplify monetary policy,
to bring about policy and structural reform to improve capital expenditure, to introduce
policy for promoting national industries and export and tacking challenges of
economy in cooperation with the private sector.
In response, PM Prachanda referred to the
constitution that stipulates provision for promoting private sector and entrepreneurship
and made it clear that the government will not introduced any laws that will
have adverse effect on the private sector, particularly at this time when
economy was going through unprecedented challenges.
"Economy is still reeling under challenges. At this
situation, challenges of economy can be tackled by a strong cooperation that
also addresses interests of both the government and the private sector. I am
clear that we cannot address national challenges by ignoring and narrowing down the role
of the private sector. There will be no law that targets to limit or makes adverse
impact on the private sector," said Prime Minister Prachanda.
PM Prachanda also assured of including the private
sector in the portfolio, and expressed his confidence that there will be strong
cooperation between the government and the newly elected FNCCI executive team.
