Kathmandu, April 21: The Election Commission has set up a by-election security management monitoring mechanism in a bid to make effective efforts to organise the April 23 by-poll in a free, fair and fearless manner, said the Commission.
Led by joint secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jitendra Basnet, other members of the mechanism are Colonel, Nepal Army, Bhesh Bahadur KC, Senior Superintendent of Police, Surendra Bahadur Gurung, Senior Superintendent, Armed Police Force, Digbijaya Subedi and associate investigation director, the National Investigation Department, Bhumi Prasad Pathak. Meanwhile, on the occasion, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya directed the organisation of the by-election in a fair, free, impartial, credible, transparent and fearless manner. Others present on the occasion were election commissioners Ram Prasad Bhandari, Dr Janaki Kumari Tuladhar and Sagun Shumsher JBR, and the Commission's secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi.
