By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Apr.19: The government is administering Vitamin A capsules and deworming tablets to children under the national Vitamin A campaign from today.
According to Bibek Kumar Lal, Director of the Family Welfare Division of the Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), is administering Vitamin, A capsules, and deworming tablets today and tomorrow to children under five years.
Vitamin A will be given to children between six months to five years while deworming tablets will be administered to children from one year to five years in the two-day-long nationwide campaign.
He said that around 2.7 million children will be given Vitamin A capsules, while, 2.4 million children will receive deworming tablets.
Dr. Lal has urged parents to give Vitamin A and deworming tablets to their children through nearby women’s community health volunteers.
Vitamin A is being given since 1997 and deworming tablets is being administered nationwide since 2001 to reduce the risk of health complications and malnutrition in children.
