By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 19: A solitary goal from Sudil Rai steered Tribhuvan Army Football Club to its fourth win at the Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League after stunning the eight-time league champion Manang Marsyangdi Club 1-0 at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu on Tuesday.
With a victory over domestic football powerhouse Manang, Army climbed into the sixth spot with 15 points. With an equal 15 points Manang stands in third place. Sankata Club and Church Boys United, with 15 points, sit in the fourth and fifth place respectively.
Similarly, with an equal 15 points Three Star Club remains in seventh place. Jawalakhel Youth Club and Satdobato Youth Club occupy first and second positions with equal 17 points. Sudil Rai scored the match-winning goal in the 75th minute. Umarked Rai scored the free-kick ball off Jagjeet Shrestha from 25-yard utilizing the lack of communication between Manang defenders.
NRT bag second win
New Road Team (NRT) registered a second win at the ongoing Martyr's Memorial 'A' Division League after trouncing FC Khumaltar by 3-1 at Dasharath Stadium, Kathmandu on Tuesday.
The victory meant NRT moved two positions up to 10th place with 10 points from 10 matches. Khumaltar dropped to 11th position in the head-to-head with equal 10 points. Saroj Tamang, Sanjeeb Bista and Mohit Gurung netted one goal each for NRT. Shyamu Murmu scored a consolation goal for Khumaltar.
Unlike the first half, which ended in a stalemate, the second half saw four goals in the post. Tamang broke the deadlock for NRT in the 65th. Unmarked Tamang nodded the cross off Sushan Shrestha to put NRT ahead.
Bista doubled the tally in the 82nd minute taking advantage of poor defending from Khumaltar's Roshan Dong inside the area.
Gurung sealed the match for the winning side in the 85th minute beating Khumaltar goalie Dev Limbu inside the area to score in Kritish Ratna Chhunju's pass. Substitute Murmu scored the consolation goal for Khumaltar in the dying minute. Murmu replaced Abhishek Chamlagian in the 86th minute.
