By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 18: Church Boys United and Three Star Club settled for a goalless draw while Friends Club thrashed Himalayan Sherpa Club 6-0 at Martyr's Memorial A Division League on Monday.
After sharing a point, Church Boys United remained in fifth place with 15 points. With an equal 15 points from nine matches Three Star Club stays in sixth place at the end of the ninth round.
Jawalakhel Youth Club is leading the table with 17 points while with an equal 17 points Satdobato Youth Club trails in second place in the goal difference.
Similarly, Manang Marsyangdi Club and Sankata Club follow in third and fourth position respectively.
Friends climbed into the 12th place with eight points and Himalayan Sherpa Club remained in the 11th place with nine points.
After sharing a point at Chayasal Stadium, Three Star’s Coach Megh Raj K.C said earning a single point from Church Boys United Club is satisfactory. "Church Boys mid-fielders performed very well as we struggled to score. Although we could not score, I am happy to share points," Coach K.C. said.
Church Boys’ newly appointed Coach Bal Gopal Maharjan blamed his players for making a mistake against Three Star Club.
"We dominated Three Star Club from the beginning. We also dominated them in ball possession but we failed on the attacking line," Coach Maharjan said.
Friends moved one place above the relegation zone after a 6-0 rout over Himalayan Sherpa at ANFA Complex, Lalitpur. Rafiq Aminu netted a brace while Akhrorbek Uktamov, Amit Tamang, Uttam Rai and Torric Jebrin scored one goal apiece in a huge margin win.
Rafiq opened an account for Friends in the third minute. Akhrorbek doubled the tally in the 32nd minute and Rafiq made the score-line 3-0 in the 38th minute.
Tamang added a fourth in the 58th minute. Rai extended the lead to 5-0 and Torric sealed the match for Friends in the dying minute in a one-sided affair.
