By Our Correspondent,Sarlahi, Apr. 15: Containers filled with water have been placed in various places in the Banke forest area of Sarlahi district so that the wild animals passing through the area can easily get drinking water.

The initiative to ensure easy availability to water to the animals was introduced on Friday on the occasion the Nepali New Year 2080.

The initiative was launched with the slogan 'Save plants, protect wild animals', on behalf of the aware citizens of Ishwarpur.

Pramod Baral, former president of the Nepali Congress Sarlahi -1, who has led the campaign in Sarlahi, informed that drinking water for wild animals has been arranged with the aim of protecting both plants and animals when people have been neglecting them in the name of development.

Baral said that arrangements have been made for the wild animals to drink water by keeping water in the drums along the highway from Phuljor to Banke.

They conducted this campaign with the aim of drawing attention to the local levels, the Division Forest Office and Sagarnath Forest Development Project to manage water resources within the forest where there is no source of water, he said.

Former Minister Shambhu Lal Shrestha inaugurated the initiative by putting half-cut drums filled with water in various places along the way. Banke forest area is believed to have high movements and more habitats of the wild animals.
