By Sher Bahadur Sarki,Bajura, Apr. 13: Triveni Municipality, in Bajura district, has started repairing its agricultural road in an effort to operate it throughout the year. Though roads have reached every ward of the municipality, incessant rains last year have left them damaged.
Yogendra Bahadur Thapa, a local, said that people were facing difficulties in transporting daily necessities due to damaged roads. He said that the problem of the locals would be solved once the roads were repaired by the municipality.
The municipality has started various programmes under agriculture in most of the wards. Vegetable cultivation has flourished in most of the villages here. Man Bahadur, head of the Agricultural Development Branch of the municipality, said that after the completion of construction work, the locally grown vegetables would be easily distributed and sold in the market.
He said that the pathetic conditions of the roads have prevented the vegetables grown by locals from reaching the market.
Gagan Jung Budha, Executive Mayor of Triveni Municipality, said the roads were in good condition over the past two years until they were left damaged by seasonal rain last year. In order to operate the roads regularly, we started upgrading the roads, he added.
The municipality has started upgrading about five kilometres of road from Benupani via Tapsikhola, Ratna Secondary School to Paima in Ward No.8 at the cost of Rs. 22.5 million.
All of nine wards of the municipality have now access to roads. The municipality started upgrading roads to facilitate its people with roads throughout the year.
