By Our Correspondent,Bhairahawa, Apr. 12: Kotahimai Rural Municipality in Rupandehi district has distributed bicycles to 203 female students who appeared in the recently concluded Secondary Education Examination (SEE).

The bicycles were given to

the female students of the local level's community schools. "The bicycles will be a help to the students in their daily life and when they join high schools to study grade 11 and 12," said Amrita Budhathoki, chief of Education Section of the rural municipality.

Among the 232 female students who got admitted at grade 10 in the community schools of Kotahimai, only 203 students had appeared in the SEE. Kotahimai's chairman Balkrishna Tripathi said that the bicycles would be a support to the female students when they enroll in higher studies.

"Schools with classes up to grade 10 are easily accessible within the local level. However, for classes from 11, the students have to commute a long distance. The bicycles will help them reach their high schools so that they do not have to drop out," said Tripathi. Tripathi also informed that the rural municipality had introduced the programmes to generate awareness related to daughters' empowerment.

"The rural municipality does not want to see a single female child deprived of education. We will bring more effective prorgammes to help our daughters become a quality manpower for the country," said Sushila Kumari Yadav, deputy chairperson of Kotahimai.
