By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr 11: Sahukhala made a return to the Martyr’s Memorial A Division League as Three Star Club and Manang Marsyagdi Club settled for a 1-1 draw in a blockbuster match at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu on Monday evening.
All-time top scorer of first division league Sahukhala put the Three Star ahead but leader Manang cancelled it out from Timothee Koudo.
Sahukhala broke the deadlock in the 77th minute by scoring against his former club. His half-volley from inside a box kissed the back of the net for his 104th league goal.
The joy of the Three Star was short-lived as Koudo restored the parity five minutes later. His header to the long pass off Bhison Gurung silenced the Three Star fans.
The result meant Manang went one point clear at the top of the table with 15 points after the end of seventh round matches of the league. Three Star climbed one spot above to fifth place with 11 points.
Jawalakhel Youth Club trail behind in second position with 14 points. Church Boys United and Satdobato FC follow in third and fourth place with 13 points.
Former international Shaukhala returned to Three Star Club after seven years.
He was the key player when Lalitpur’s outfit won its last league title in 2015.
Shaukhala played for Chyasal Youth Club (CYC) in the last season. He played just two matches then. Chyasal was relegated to the second division after finishing at bottom of the league last season.
Police bag first win
Nepal Police Club registered a first victory of the season after beating Friends Club by 3-1 at ANFA Complex, Lalitpur.
Despite the win, Police Club still struggles in the relegation zone staying at the bottom of the league table with four points. With an equal four points the Friends also sits in the drop zone at 13th place bettering the Police in goal difference.
Buddha Bal Tamang netted a brace and Moses Gyabaah Twum scored one goal in the first win of Police. Torric Jebrin scored a consolation goal for Friends Club.
The match came to life in the second half with four goals after the first half ended in a stalemate.
Moses broke the deadlock in the 51st minute to put the Police in front. Tamang doubled the tally in the 58th minute. Torric Jebrin cut the deficit for Friends in the 87th minute making the score line 1-2. Tamang scored his second goal in the dying minute to kill the match for the Police.
APF, Church Boys share point APF FC held star-studded Church Boys United to a goalless draw in the first match at Dasharath Stadium today.
Church Boys United Goalkeeping Coach Mir Saawant said it is good to share a point with APF. “Today’s match against the departmental side is fantastic. Sharing a point with APF was not bad for us,” Saawant said.
APF Coach Ratna Kaji Maharjan blamed a lack of communication between players for a draw.
“We have to share a point because of the lack of communication between the players. We are here for three points but have to satisfy with one point. Such performance could not meet our top four targets in the league.”
