By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 10: Under its corporate social responsibility, the Agricultural Development Bank Limited (ADBL) has supported Kirtipur Community Homestay for the restoration of Janhun Ga: Hathu Bhairab.
Pratap Subedi, chief operating officer of ADBL, handed over the support amount to Pradeep Maharjan, president of Kirtipur Community Homestay, for restoration of the Janhun Ga: Hathu Bhairab.
On the occasion, Subedi handed over a cheque of Rs. 250,000.
Shubha Laxmi Shakya, Deputy Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality, said that the support of the ADBL for the installation of the statue of Newa Maicha in the traditional Newa style, along with Janhun Ga: Hathu Bhairab, was appreciable.
On the occasion, Deputy Mayor Shakya and Chief Operation Officer of ADBL Subedi unveiled and inaugurated Bhairab, Janhun Ga: Hiti and Newa Maicha.
According to the organisers, with the restoration of Bhairab and Janhun will resume the tradition of Hathu Haykegu (pouring liquor from the mouth of Bhairab) which has been performed for about four decades.
a festival is held on the day after Indra Jatra, on the day of full moon, and all the villagers gather and celebrate it.
Because of this, it is believed that their ancestors will receive good food in the heaven.
