By Rajan Rawat, Humla, Mar. 21: Farmers in Humla are
elated for it has snowed after months as drought has dried crops.
The snowfall will also make it easy for sowing the
Kattike crops.
What has fallen is not snow, it is like gold for the
farmers, said Dala Bhandari, a local farmer who has planted 150 apple saplings
on his apple orchard.
He said the snow accompanied with rain fall will now
help the plants grow, which he said were getting dried due to a long drought
spell.
He said snowfall has also rescued the Jethasi crop.
Another farmer, Takka Bahadur Shahi, shared that
farmers were worried that they would be unable to sow Kattike crop as the
drought had too hardened the field to plough and dig.
It has snowed this more thickly at Chhobakhor, Labli
Danda, Ralingumba, Changla Himal, Namkha's Limi, Hilsa, Naralekh, Yari, Chala
and Nyalu lekh in addition to district headquarters of Simkot.
