Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav elected Vice President of Nepal

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar. 17: Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) leader Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav has been elected the Vice President of Nepal.

Yadav was a common candidate of the ruling coalition.

Yadav secured 184 votes from federal parliament and 329 votes from Provincial Assembly (PA) members to win the election.

Members of federal parliament and the PA are the voters in the Presidential and vice-Presidential election.

Yadav's nearest rival CPN UML's Ashta Laxmi Shakya got 104 votes from federal parliament and 169 votes from PA members.

Mamata Jha, another candidate in the vice-presidential election, of Janamat Party, got 23 votes from federal parliament and 15 votes from PA members while Pramila Kumari Yadav, who announced that she would support Yadav after she filed the candidacy, however, got a vote from a PA member.
