Lumbini provincial festival records turnover of Rs. 25m

By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Feb. 23: Organising committee of Lumbini Provincial Festival in Kohalpur informed that a transaction of Rs. 25 million was made in five days of the festival. Laxman Raj Poudel, president of Kohalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries said that the festival that started on February 17 had made the turnover of Rs. 25 million by Tuesday and was visited by 44,000 people. 

According to Paudel, the festival could not be organised for the last two years due to COVID-19 pandemic. This time a large number of people had participated every day resulting in turnover much higher than expected, he added. Paudel, also the coordinator of main organising committee of the festival, said the fifth day had the highest transaction at Rs. 13 million. 

Ticket sales committee of the festival informed that the highest number of tickets i.e. 20,000 tickets were sold on the fifth day. Coordinator Paudel said that a financial transaction of more than 50 million rupees and visitors over 300,000 was expected in the festival. The festival was being conducted enthusiastically and they were overwhelmed with the increasing visitors every day, he added. 

According to the Kohalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the Lumbini Province level festival was being conducted for the first time for the construction of a multi-purpose building of the Chamber. 

A school-level group dance competition was conducted on the fifth day where 20 schools had participated. The festival with 250 commercial stalls to continue till February 25 might be extended for few extra days, informed the Chamber.
