Minister Gurung assures public of stability of coalition govt

Kathmandu, Dec 18: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has urged the public not to be misled by the misperception that the coalition government will topple.     

Stating that the two biggest parties in the parliament, Nepali Congress and CPN (UML), have come together to end the national crisis, Minister Gurung assured the public of the stability of the incumbent government.     

Addressing an event organized to mark the 57th anniversary of Birbhakti Secondary School at Tarkughat at Rainas Municipality in Lamjung on Wednesday, Minister Gurung reiterated that the coalition government will remain intact.     

"You might be being misled a lot saying that the incumbent government will collapse. There might be rumours about change in the government as well. Ministers may be reshuffled but the coalition government formed by the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) is here to stay," he asserted.     

According to him, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba will lead the next government after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli completes his term.     

"Our coalition government will last for three more years and coalition partners will parts ways only after the upcoming parliamentary elections," he added.     

He blamed that some forces were spreading the false rumours to destabilize the government and thus urged the public not to go by such rumours.     

On a different note, he informed about the ongoing initiatives of the government to enhance digital infrastructures and communication services by expanding broadband internet in all local levels.     

He also shared about ongoing efforts to amend outdated laws and devise new legislations relating to regulation of social media, cyber security and education act among others. (RSS)
