By Arjun Kafle, Syangja, Dec 18: The Syangja district known as a leading district for orange production has produced the fruit worth of Rs. 1.12 billion this year.
Orange has been planted in 2,280 hectors of land and this year the
plants of 1,370 hectors yielded the juicy fruit that produced 97,000 metric tons of
orange.
Although the orange production increased this year, the income reduced
as the price of the fruit went down by Rs. four per kg in the market.
The Prime Minister Agriculture Modernisation (Orange Super Zone) made public
the average of orange production for this year after crop cutting in 42 orange
orchard.
Senior agriculture development officer of the Super Zone, Ajay
Adhikari, informed that orange production has increased by 50 hectors of land
this year compared to the last year, that equals to production of orange from
additional 130 hectors of land.
Internal consumption of orange is about 10 per cent while the rest is
supplied to other districts for sale.
