'Land management key challenge to run EV in Kathmandu'

Kathmandu, July 6: Officials have stated that land management for the development of infrastructures to run electric vehicles for Sajha Yatayat was a key challenge in the Kathmandu Valley.     

At a meeting with the representatives of different agencies and Sajha Yatayat held on Sunday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, they stated that land management was a major challenge for Sajha Yatayat for the sustainable management and use of electric vehicles.     

On the occasion, CEO of Sajha Yatayat Bhupendra Aryal made a presentation on the operation of EVs to be availed soon after the government facilitation.     

During the meeting, parking and holding centre, charging station, repair centre and availability of spares parts were discussed, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's personal secretary Binod Bahadur Kunwar said.     

The meeting has assigned the Secretary of Office of the Prime Minister, Raj Kumar Shrestha, and Joint Secretary Namaraj Ghimire for line agency facilitation and confirm the land in the Kathmandu Valley.     

In view of massive pressure on public transportation, the government is planning to run more than 100 EVs in the Kathmandu Valley within some months.(RSS)
