Kathmandu, Feb 17 : The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is organizing the Judicial Committee National Conference on April 7 and 8 in Kathmandu, ensuring participation of the judicial committees of the local levels from across the country.
The conference is aimed at sharing
experiences on justice delivery from the local levels, Deputy Mayor of KMC and
Coordinator of Justice Committee Sunita Dangol said. Likewise, promotion of
mutual learning is expected from the conference.
As part of preparation for the
conference, judicial committee main organizing panel has been formed under the
leadership of Deputy Mayor Dangol.
The KMC has said that the
conference would be made result-oriented and the milestones would be recorded
for the institutional memory.
It is said that the conference
would be focused on four different themes.
The first theme is regarding the
concept of the judicial committee, legal provisions relating to the judicial
committee, jurisdiction of the judicial committee on justice delivery and the
exercises.
The second is on reconciliation
process in local levels’ dispute resolution and its promotion.
Likewise, decision on
reconciliation and assurance of those decisions’ effective implementation is
the third theme and institutional mechanisms for the justice delivery and its
overall process is the fourth theme to be discussed in the conference.
The conference is expected to form judicial committee national network, province network and district network.
As per the constitutional
provision, the deputies of the local level lead a three-member judicial
committee for the justice delivery in the local level. (RSS)
