Kathmandu, Feb 14 : The transport workers' organisations have retracted their agitation. An understanding was reached to take back the agitation during talks between the government and the workers unions held at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport today.
All the programmes of protest have
been withdrawn following the understanding forged to addressing the justified
demands of the workers' unions.
The transport workers' organisation
had declared to halt the public transportation in the Kathmandu Valley for
today.
The agreement to retract the
agitation was reached following an understanding reached in course of the talks
participated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure
and Transport, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the DPM's media expert Kamal Giri
said.
The transport workers had carried
out a protest agitation in Gongabu Buspark area on Monday, putting forth
10-point demand, including reduction in the traffic felony penalty. Incident of
vandalism and arson were also reported in the course of the agitation. (RSS)
