Short film competition to be held

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 28: A short film competition will be held under the joint initiative of Music Nepal and Nepal Film Campus. In a formal event held at Nepal Film Campus on Thursday, it was informed that the competition is for the filmmakers who are interested in film production but are unable to get a platform. Speaking at the event, Shishir Upreti, head of Nepal Film Campus, expressed his belief that the short film competition could become a dynamic platform for filmmakers who are looking for opportunities. 

It was informed that anyone interested in film production could participate in the competition. Applications for the competition have been collected since Thursday. Speaking as a representative from Music Nepal, Rajiv Lohani said, “Music Nepal’s contribution to the music sector of Nepal is well known. We are willing to work with filmmakers by broadening the scope.” 

Anup Baral, Surakshya Panta and Sujit Bidari are the judges of the competition.  The filmmakers who want to participate in the competition should submit the story by March 14 and the script by March 31, said the organisers.  

Altogether 10 scripts will be selected from the rewritten scripts then production assistance will be provided. The selected 10 films will receive Rs. 75,000 each for production. After this process, the winning film will receive Rs. 200,000 while the rest will receive cash prizes according to  the category.

 According to the organisers, those who excel in script and direction will receive Rs. 50,000, while those who show excellent work in acting, cinematography, editing and sound will receive the same amount.
