By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 25: A web series 'Becoming', based on the story of LGBTQI+ young people and their quest for social acceptance, was released on Monday. Jointly produced by Blue Diamond Society (BDS) and Save the Children, the series is directed by Loonibha Tuladhar.
The web series narrates the story of young people from the LGBTQI+ community and unravels the challenges that they must face to become their true self, said director Tuladhar.
"We engaged with many young people, and allies from the LGBTQI+ community, and it has helped us come up with a story which is a reflection of the young people of the community," said Tuladhar.
The web series through a humanised story-telling approach primes young people from the LGBTQI+ community as role models and dismisses the stereotypical narratives of the community in mainstream media, said, Heather Campbell, Nepal's country Director for the Save the Children Nepal.
The web series comprised of 60 per cent artistes and production line from the LGBTQI+ community.
The web series is a part of Save the Children's social and Behaviour Change Communications (SBCC) programme.
'Becoming' revolves around the story of Prakrity and her friend, and spotlights on the challenges that they must face to embrace their sexuality and their quest for social acceptance.
The web series is released in the Save the Children Nepal's YouTube Channel. It features artistes like Loonibha Tuladhar, Amar Dahal, Aditi Sherpa, Nirvik Bhattarai and Eunice Gurung.
