Udit, Deepa Jha donate to film workers’ welfare fund

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Jan. 18: Famous Nepali and Bollywood singers Udit Narayan Jha and Deepa Narayan Jha have donated Rs. 511,111 to the Nepali film workers’ welfare fund. Deepa Jha handed over the amount to the fund on Tuesday at the office of Nepal Film Development Board on Tuesday. 

Likewise, Actor and producer Deepak Raj Giri, actress and director Deepa Shree Niraula gave Rs.  111,111 each, actress Swastima Khadka and artiste and producer Nirmal Sharma donated Rs.  51,111 each and Geeta Nepal, coordinator of the Women's Empowerment Committee also donated Rs. 11,111 to the fund. 

The fund was established 22 years ago with the aim of supporting the film workers working continuously in the Nepali film industry  when they fall ill or meet with accident. Bashundhara Bhushal, coordinator of the fund, said that Rs. 50 million have been collected in the fund so far. 

On Tuesday, a programme was organised at the Film Development Board and a letter of appreciation was presented to the donators Deepa Jha, Deepak Raj Giri, Deepa Shree Niraula and Geeta Nepal were present in the programme. Singer Jha said that she is happy to get an opportunity to donate to the fund.
