Help Nepal, Police triumph club volleyball

Kathmandu, Jan 16 : Help Nepal stunned title holders Tribhuvan Army Club in straight three sets to lift the men’s title at the 7th NVA Club Volleyball Championship at National Sports Council (NSC) Covered-Hall, Tripureshwor, Kathmandu on Sunday. Help Nepal recorded a 25-21, 26-24 and 25-23 victory to lift the trophy for the first time. 

The title winner, Help Nepal got richer by Rs. 400,000 and the runner-up Army took home a cash prize of Rs. 200,000. APF Club sealed third place in the men's section after stunning Nepal Police Club (NPC) by 15-25, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-18. 

Police win women’s title

Nepal Police Club overcame New Diamond Academy in a five-set thriller to clinch the women’s title of the 7th NVA Club Volleyball Championship.

Police bounced back twice to claim the title by 22-25, 25-17, 25-27, 25-19 and 15-11. Police lost the first and third sets against New Diamond.

Police earned Rs. 400, 000 after the title victory. The runners-up New Diamond was satisfied with Rs. 200,000.

APF Club finished in third position following a 3-2 victory over Tribhuvan Army Club.  APF recorded a 25-16, 25-20, 21-25, 21-25, 15-7 win over Army in a five-set thriller.  Usha Bhandari of Nepal Police and Muwasar Raza of Help Nepal were declared best female and male players of the tournament. 

Kamala Pun of Police and Harihajur Thapa of Army were named best setter. The best defence title in both women and men’s section went to Salina Shrestha of New Diamond and Dipak Thapa of Help Nepal. 

Sangam Mahato of Army and Raza of Help Nepal won the best server title in women and men’s category respectively. The best blocker title went to Kabita Bhatta of APF and Nabin Nagarkoti of Police. 

Pratibha Mali of New Diamond and Dhan Bahadur Bhatt of Army won the best spiker’s title. Rupesh Bista of Nepal Police and Utsav Khadka of Help Nepal were named best coach in women’s and men’s category respectively.
