Pakistan, UAE ambassadors pay farewell call on President

Kathmandu, Oct. 21: Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Syed Haider Shah, and Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saeed Hamdan Al-Naqbi, paid a farewell call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday.

According to the Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu, during the meeting, recalling historical linkages and warm relations between both countries, Ambassador Shah thanked the President and Government of Nepal for supporting his endeavours during his ambassadorial stint in Nepal.

Likewise, the President congratulated him for his successful tenure and efforts during his stay in Nepal to further strengthen relations between both countries. 

Earlier, on Wednesday, Shah had paid a farewell call on Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Vice President of Nepal.

During the meeting, matters related to mutual interest between the two countries were discussed, the embassy informed in a statement the other day. 

Vice President Pun appreciated Pakistan’s generous support to Nepali students for their education in the field of medical and technical education in Pakistan. He also appreciated Ambassador Shah’s active role and initiative in the provision of medical assistance to Nepal during COVID-19 pandemic.

Ambassador Shah thanked the Vice-President for his audience and expressed gratitude for his continued support to the Embassy of Pakistan throughout his tenure. 

"He also thanked the Vice President for the relief items sent by the Government of Nepal to Pakistan for flood-affected people and expressed gratitude for this timely assistance," read the statement. 

At the end of the meeting, Honourable Vice President presented the Ambassador with the traditional Nepali Ceremonial Scarf (Khada) and Dhaka Cap.

Shah has been serving as the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal since November 23, 2020. 

Likewise, Al-Naqbi has been representing UAE in Nepal since the country opened its embassy in Kathmandu in 2016.
