Dolakha, Oct. 20: The number of tourists coming to visit the Tsho Rolpa Glacial Lake in Gaurishankar Rural Municipality–9 in Dolakha has, of late, increased. According to Ward 9 chairman Ngimageli Sherpa, three to four groups of domestic tourists and five to six groups of foreign tourists come to the lake on a daily basis, either to visit it or to pass through it to the Tasi Lapcha Pass or Solukhumbu.
Sherpa informed that most of the people arriving at Tsho Rolpa were youth. “It is easy to come here,” he said. “There are many public vehicles people can take to come from Charikot to Chhyotchhyot waterfall.
From there, they can walk along a foot trail which have many hotels for accommodation.”
There are more than a dozen big and small hotels at Simigaun, Surmuche, Kyalche, Dongag, Beding and Nagaun. “All in all, people can come to and return from Tsho Rolpa in around five days,” Sherpa shared.
Tourism entrepreneur Dawachhiri Sherpa has also brought a new homestay into operation to treat tourists suffering from altitude sickness and other illnesses.
Ward chair Sherpa said that the local government had allocated Rs. 300,000 for the fiscal year 2022/23 to facilitate travellers by providing internet, publishing informative brochures and investing in culture conservation. The local level is also planning to put the area up on Google Maps to ease navigation, he said.
The government of Bagmati Province has also provided Rs. 68.1 million to construct a track from Chhyotchhyot to Tasi Lapcha.Chairman Sherpa said that the ward planned to construct a cable car.
