Musician Suresh Gaire receives gold medal

Kathmandu, Oct. 20:'Yeha Deshko Chha Chinta' famed musician Suresh Gaire has received a gold medal in the sixth Command and Staff Course – a master's degree equivalent course under the Tribhuvan University that includes defense, development and peace. 

The course also covers economics, foreign affairs, conflict and disaster management, and national affairs. The 18-month residential course is run by the Armed Police Force (APF) Command and Staff College in Kathmandu. 

Gaire is serving as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the APF. According to the APF, since the entrance exam to the course is highly difficult, only 10 could pass the exam. DSP Gaire had stood first in the entrance exam as well. The college was established in 2015 and a separate command runs it. 

Gaire has also a master's degree in English literature from the TU and post-graduate degree on 'Combating terrorism: Policy and strategy' from the USA. 

He had given music to more than 350 songs, ghazals and playback songs including the hits like 'Marne kasailai rahar hudaina'. 

He has won dozens of awards at the national level for his creation. He is known as a brilliant office in the APF. Inspector General of APF, Raju Aryal, Dean of TU Prof. Dr. Kushum Shakya and high officers of Nepal Army, Nepal Police, National Investigation Department and Ministry of Home Affairs were present at the award ceremony.

Meanwhile, the best dissertation prize went to DSP Santosh Bahadur Singh.
