Kathmandu, Oct.1: Nepal Police has arrested three Nepali citizens in connection with the murder of garment businessman Mohammad Darji alias Lal Mohammad in Gothatar of Kathmandu on September 19.
The District Police Range, Kathmandu organising a press conference on Friday evening made them public.
A special team of the police arrested the two young men from Birgunj on Friday and brought to Kathmandu and the young woman was living in Kapan of Kathmandu, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and Chief of the Police Range, Bharat Bahadur Bohora.
All three of them were made public only after bringing them here in the Capital as the incident happened in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-8, Kathmandu.
The arrested has been identified as 21-year-old Moharam Miyan, a resident of Birgunj Metropolitan City 16, Parsa. The police said that he planned the murder and managed the weapons from India. According to the instructions of the source, Moharam came to Kathmandu with a pistol travelling in a public vehicle in assurance of getting Rs. 40,000.
Similarly, the police have also arrested 19-year-old Rehan Miyan, a resident of Birgunj Metropolitan City-15 in Parsa, on charge of being involved in the murder. Rehan helped settling the weapons (pistol) as well as planning the murder.
The police have also arrested 21-year-old Swostika Syangtan, a resident of Bakaiya Rural Municipality-1 of Makwanpur, on the charge of being involved in the murder. She had specially helped doing surveillance of the house of the deceased and his day-to-day update about the arrival and departure time.
According to the police, earlier to this, Syangtan was released from jail in a theft case. It has been revealed that she served imprisonment in the Central Jail from June 26, 2019 to February 19, 2022 in the theft case.
According to him, further investigation is being done based on the statements given by the arrested persons. He informed that some other people were also involved in the incident.
Deceased Mohammad was once involved in counterfeit Indian currency trading. He was also involved in the murder of fake currency dealer Baluram Patuwar in Anamnagar in 2007. SSP Bohora said, “Until now, it has not been decided where the final point of the incident will reach, it will take time to reach behind the objectives of the murder.”
The police have also recovered a pistol used in the murder. According to the police, a pistol marked Made in USA, 4 cartridges of 2.9 mm and four unused rounds of 3.9 mm were also recovered.
SSP Bohora said that further investigation is being conducted against them under Criminal (Code) Act -2017 of the Section-12 by obtaining an arrest warrant from the Kathmandu District Court.
