Giri was a socialist, great thinker: PM Deuba

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Sept. 1: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has regarded with respect late Pradeep Giri as a socialist thinker.

Addressing the 13th-day memorial assembly of leader Giri, PM Deuba remembered Giri as a versatile and genius leader.

The PM said that Giri had a depth of knowledge of all sectors and it was a rare thing to find an intellectual personality like Giri.

"He was a versatile personality. He had knowledge of all sectors. He was not only a socialist but also a philosopher," said PM Deuba.

The PM viewed Giri's demise as an irreparable loss to Nepal and the world.

"He was a thinker. There are very few people like Giri in Nepal. We have suffered a huge loss due to his passing away. We cannot compensate for this loss," the PM said.

Prime Minister Deuba highlighted that Giri's write-ups should be studied by all as they provide thoughts on socialism and knowledge of the socialist movement.

PM Deuba, also the Nepali Congress president, mentioned that the NC would disseminate late leader Giri's thoughts across the country.

"Reading Giri's book will boost one's socialist thinking and knowledge about the socialist movement. Our party should move forward with the thoughts he has left behind. Our party will make arrangements for disseminating his books across the country," said PM Deuba.
